CIMPA partners travel to Valencia for the second General Assembly, hosted by AIMPLAS

The international consortium of CIMPA met in Valencia (Spain) for the second General Assembly of the project. The meeting, hosted by AIMPLAS, took place on the 1st and 2nd June and gathered 27 participants from the 13 different organizations taking part in this research & innovation project funded by the EU’s Horizon 2020 programme.

On the occasion of the first anniversary of the project, CIMPA partners discussed the work done towards the recyclability and circularity of multilayer plastic films, shared their latest results and defined the needs for future developments.

During this two-day meeting, Work Package leaders presented the status of the activities and the upcoming tasks. Dedicated sessions on the stakeholder’s engagement and dissemination & exploitation took place as the project is reaching a new stage with the first project deliverables ready to be shared.

“We are reaching a very interesting scientific step with very promising results, and we have now a clear picture of the challenges that are waiting for us” stated Céline Chevallier, Materials Development Project Manager at IPC (France) and coordinator of the project.

On Thursday 2, CIMPA partners visited AIMPLAS facilities, where they could see the pre-treatment and recycling lab scale, the compounding pilot plan and the transformation equipment.

With more than 30 years of experience, AIMPLAS is a Centre for Innovation and Technology (CIT) focused on the technological research and development on thermoplastic and thermosetting plastic materials & products, its transformation processes and their recyclability and sustainability. AIMPLAS employs more than 200 highly qualified professionals and has more than 10,500 m2 of facilities with the latest technological advances.

The next project meeting will be hosted by EuRIC in Brussels, in Autumn 2022.

Spreading the word about the first results

CIMPA work is now entering a more exciting stage, as the first concrete results are obtained.  In the upcoming months, CIMPA partners will participate in several conferences and fairs. On 15 June, the European Recycling Conference will take place in Madrid, and a roundtable with experts from IPC, EVERSIA, AIMPLAS, PAPREC and EuRIC will be organized to present how CIMPA is contributing to the circular economy. Moreover, CIMPA will take part in the Plastic Recycling Show Europe in Amsterdam, on 22-23 June, with a booth (Stand K60) to present the latest developments in this H2020 project.
